The Spanish Peaks
by Jon Chandler |
We were in Trinidad, Colorado and while driving over Cucharra Pass fell in love with the town of La Veta and the Spanish Peaks. When we first saw Jon Chandlers manuscript titled Spanish Peaks we were very excited to read it. The story is set in this rugged, history filled area of Southern Colorado and is based on a true story told to the author by his great-grandfather. There are famous and infamous characters and the authors writing style makes you feel like you know them. Jon Chandler also happens to be a very talented singer/musician as wellcheck out his music.
For legendary scout and mountain man Sam Tate, the murders of his daughter and her family by a vicious gang of desperados sets in motion an odyssey of reflection and revenge. A frontiersman of near-supernatural abilities, Tate's adventures with his old companero Kit Carson are the stuff of myth. But this time, he must traverse the Huajatolla country of Colorado and face these cruelest of killers alone, aided only by the faith of a young boy.
